Hello! I was looking for a header this week when I remembered Rust Factions. I always liked the way they presented their in-game claims on the map, splashing territories in colourful splotches across the topography. As it happens the server's forum, where all the game's war declerations and a lot of RP takes place, has had a bit of a reboot, and the maps have an interesting new look. I don't have the time to delve too deeply right now, but I do have a plan for a few more in-depth articles about the community coming together. Rust Factions seems like something that I should return to for that. Anyway, here's the map. And instructions on how to view it are here.
MikeTheVike has just recieved his Youtube button, and it's very well deserved. He takes his role as a server admin and uses it wisely, showcasing the best bits. This week he looked at an island hogging mega base that the inhabitants claim is unraidable. I think they might even be right. Well done, Mike.
There's been a lot of 'filmed' videos of Rust lately, so I've been craving some basic Let's Plays. As it happens, Brit has a solo series with the goal of building up a large supermarket. It's just him starting out and building up towards his goal. His channel already has a lot of shop videos from previous play throughs, so I expect he'll see his shop dreams come to fruition.
Speaking of basic let's plays, Vertiigo is using episode 101 onwards to 'git gud'. Will he succeed? 7m07s onwards made me laugh so loudly that I woke my cat. And here's Ep 2. Gud vids.
I spottted hc4b's Rusted Timeline a few weeks ago, but forgot about it until it popped up on Reddit. Just a nicely cut together series of clips. The fight that starts about 4m13s into this video made me clench. Good stuff. That last fight was Surge worthy. Speaking of...
Intro master and trailer maker Surge likes to cut together frag movies and such. He make good Rust players look amazing through his artful editing and additional moments. I love how he uses the demo cameras to set up each shot.
Jeff Xtab can't stop, won't stop, judging skins. Here's his pix for this week's best. That shotgun is amazing.
Shadowfrax joins Brunt Force Trauma for a very special Nerfed Weekly. You met your match.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Share your base designs, show off a game-mode from your server, display your finest piece of art. There's a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well. I can't respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
