The return of Brullan sits on top of the blog. He's always been very good at capturing scenes that feel like moment-to-moment stories from the game, although always hugely dramatised. This isn't as OTT as his other work, but at least he went full dickbutt. He always uses the metal facemask. I think, like me, he can't do noses. BTW, there might not be a blog post next week. I have a long weekend that will get in the way of gathering, note-taking, and curating.
It's unusual for me to post a pure combat video, but this is hJune's 'celebration' of reaching 7500 hours in the game. That's over 312 days, which is a ridiculous number. I hope he stretched once in a while. Ah, he's taking a wee break from a tough schedule. Good plan! Self-care, people. I'm looking at you, Vertiigo.
A very last-minute discovery, but MadMaxGamer showed me the city the citizens and faction members built on Rust Factions. And, yeah, it's pretty amazing. Sticking a car in the shots really gives it a nice vibe. On MikeTheVike's server, he visits a nice hotel and a tough to raid base. An odd discovery: there's a tavern on an official server, US East 2, that has its own website. The Pipe and Poob Tavern is a surprisingly sprawling base in the corner of the map. Impressive to attempt that on an official server.
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. Holdacious took part in an event that was just a tower with some platforms and weapons. The challenge was to get in, grab the weapons, and fight back out. That narrator's voice needs to be in more videos.
A fair pile of Rust artwork this week has been card based. Like this from Xinergie, who reimagined either Rust or Hearthstone. I can't tell which. More cards: Lincoln_31313131, JBski and The_Uncredible_Helk all riffed on some Rust decks. Meanwhile, in the non-card world, Caroli made this fun gif that's the definition of 'art'.
I didn't realise arting was so easy.
This starts with a singing compilation, has a competition, and ends in a stage show. Rust Youtubers are generally creative, but it's been a while since I watched something this wonky. GG, JambyPlays. I even love the thumbnail.
A rare Eoka pistol skin lands in Xtab's latest rundown of this week's Steam Workshop submissions. And, of course, an OTT door that exudes manliness. So many doors with faces.
Apparently Slydelix loves modding Rust. Now I love it, too.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Share your base designs, show off a game-mode from your server, or have you done a cool thing with boats? There's a dedicated forum, or you can fish for upvotes in the sub reddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well.
