Community Update 95

What not to do with a hand-made Salvaged Sword, the ninth chapter of Clan Wars, biblical brother-vs-brother violence, and more.

Just a few hours before the XP update launched, the header appeared on reddit via yellowhellow78. His friend Lenny drew it for a video on the XP system for their Youtube channel. That video isn't up yet, so here's one they made in March about the sun going down. I also had to slightly crop the original image, so if you need to experience the artistic vision of Lenny--of a man searching, constantly yearning for the very meaning of life or just a pointy stick to fight off bears--in its fullest, it's here, and it's even more glorious. BTW, I have next week off so the Community Update will have a small break.
Family not getting along is a story as old as time. It's basically what games were made for, and it's what this video is all about. Oh sure, they dress it up in fancy cinematography and high-minded talk about old Rust vs new Rust, but you know the reason for this is the time one brother kicked the other right in the balls. My brother is still waiting to get me back for that time I replaced his milk with orange juice. I should probably stop texting him about it, but it was really funny. Tonybuttface takes on his brother--some dude called Vertiigo--as he fights for all the Legacy players out there. It's the second video of a series. Part 1 is here. He spat it out! He was so confused! Ah, good times.
This is chapter nine of the Clan Wars, a Rust series I've been an all too infrequent viewer of. The previous eight are here, and they serve to show you how well Brunt Force Trauma's film-making has evolved. The impressive builds, the sweeping shots, the hilarious crown... just watch. It's impressive and silly. Did anyone else see an elephant?
Rust's ever-roving eye Phaedo 82 took in a little shop on the Rustopia server. It's a slice-of-life video where Phaedo 82 can't help himself and starts deconstructing the action around the shop. It's needed: this tiny shop turns incredibly political and it gets hilariously twisted. You might need to turn the sound up a little to hear the in-game chat. And turn it down again when you're done, or you'll wake the cat. He's turning into a proper documentarian. I think his inner monologue is an outie.
Lil Dan was given a hand-made Salvaged Sword by his friends as a birthday present. Those are the kinds of friends you need in what's clearly becoming the end of days, so keep them close Dan. Until then, just be vigilant and whatever you do don't leave the house carrying... Oh. Seriously! Don't walk around outside holding a sword, people. Swords are for indoors only.
Surge has made a neat little concept video about the potential for security systems in Rust, in particular cameras linked to screens inside the base. That would be enough to get me to cover it, but this is also a really made short. I hope by posting it I encourage Surge to make more, though hopefully without mocking the eye bug. That wasn't nice and it made me sad. See? Nice camera angles, dramatic music, and cool stuff in the game. More!
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Now's the time to share your base designs, or get into the growing Raid Cam business, or show off a game-mode from your server, or if your server has an interesting theme. There's a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well. I can't respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
Hardcore Rust. If you wake me up from a nap, you'd better be prepared for the consequences.
