First one looked better IMO
First one looked better IMO
How come?
"You shouldn't use this! I mean, it isn't actually much worse in practice, but people say it's bad so it must be bad, so for the love of God don't use it!" Yeah, nginx would probably take me less than an hour to set up properly if I tried. Thing is, Apache took me less than 10 minutes to set up.
Apache isn't that bad and it was so simple to set up originally, I just wanted a change of scene and a little bit more spare memory.
Procrastinating, took about 30 minutes, PHP and JS - [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/0hSVv.png[/img_thumb] [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/xPy7a.png[/img_thumb]
Looks real nice!
How come?
I like the grunge background on the first one.
Yeah, what's wrong with fpm on a VPS? Also, working on a simple database abstraction layer for my upcoming forum thingy, making life very easy when querying the database (simply query away): -snip- I'm considering using sprintf and having variables put into the database differently similar to prepared statements.
Reminds me of a DB class I made ages ago: http://norskwebforum.no/pastebin/9460
Just noticed everytime my script grabbed a playlist from jamendo, it included the whole website itself. Fixed it with putting the header stuff into a seperate file and send over the $_POST variables per $_GET.
I like the grunge background on the first one.
It looks like someone dropped it on the floor and stepped on it.
Sitting at Envato's office waiting for OS X to download its update so I can setup a development environment. I'm going to be working on one of their internal tools, but that's all I can say because they put me under a confidentiality thing :ohdear:
First one looked better IMO
Disagree! While the first one might look more..er..detailed; it takes away from what should be the center of attention (the text). The second one is much better.
Redesigning my game. Before: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ljTXR.jpg[/img_thumb] After (Not done yet): [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/8Gf9o.png[/img_thumb] Thoughts so far?
New one is infinitely better, great job.
I'm new to the design scene, How does facepunch think I should improve it?
That is one bland logo.
Trying one of these myself, wish I had the skill to make it shine though :( Keep working on it, this one will be very nice!
Thanks, I never really considered my designs that great, but after getting some artistic's from this I decided on a directory listing script that looked similar.

Yeah it looks pretty bad on this one because I changed it a bit. I'll probably end up changing it.
I just spent the day converting all the game icons on Ironswine to a larger format so I could change the way game previews look, but now that it's done, I'm not sure if I like it. I think it feels too cluttered. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] Just doubled the spacing between the bottom and tops of the pictures, and that helped a little bit—still not completely satisfied though.
Found this thread while 'working' today: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/174983 Fucking funniest thing ever. tl;dr guy rm -rf's his ~ [editline]15th November 2010[/editline] but jokes aside, I have been working very hard. I'll ask the lead dev there if I can open source the lib I wrote today
Reminds me when we got anton to rm -rf / his vps v:v:v
I knew it was fishy especially when you said to do it as root, so I didn't really do it as root (plus it was fresh and nothing was lost)
I knew it was fishy especially when you said to do it as root, so I didn't really do it as root (plus it was fresh and nothing was lost)
suuuuuure
I tried, I couldn't even get PHP to work consistently. Even when I did, Apache was much faster. (Ironic, isn't it?). Lord knows I couldn't get Wordpress on there. Nginx: about.. 5 hours wasted. Apache: 5 minutes, all set up.
I can setup Nginx faster than I can setup Apache.
Working on a Munin alternative, not too fond of RRDTools graphs.
stuff
Why did you remove the Lamborgini Gallardo page? :saddowns:
Out of ideas for the <h2> tag (Hall of Fame). Any suggestions how to style it?
We've got another project in the works, looking for an experienced PHP developer. Involves a lot of database work, and a lot of PHP. Will be about 6 months worth of contract. Really looking for experience here - anyone interested?

[editline]15th November 2010[/editline] Also, not strictly web-dev, but working on getting IPv6 for German VPS's :)
First one looked better IMO
I agree, and he did not even fix the padding that I suggested
