There's been a bug for months that drains HQM out of the TC for seemingly no reason, I can't remember exactly why it does it, but it hasn't been fixed.
By the way, when they say "Minimum", they mean MINIMUM. You gotta run it at potato with everything as low as possible.
Yeah. Framerate really is fine, its just irritating to have so much memory hogged. I guess I could, but its a damn shame; - When rust reset its graphics options recently and stuck me at 500 view distance, I couldn't see air drops unless I was right close, so that's a bunch of ...
I play on Rusteros, which is an average-or-smaller server. The way I check my memory usage is just by checking Task Manager or the globa.perf command in-game. It shouldn't be using that much memory, and I cant' tell why. Of course, I checked to see if it was an issue on my end...
Why does Rust use so much RAM? Even with 16GB it still slows down my computer. Hell, I can exit rust and my computer will chug for about five minutes before it finally recovers. Why the hell does this game require so much memory usage? Can't it be optimized? I only have a GT...
RUST uses 10GB of memory, which is a problem.
Now, I'm playing on a modded server, so this may very well be the reason for the following, but if somebody could test it on an Official server for me, that'd be amazing. I was watching the outpost components vending machine on our server, and it was empty 24/7. Earlier today...
Possible Outpost Vending Machine Bug?
Rust Commits: "Fix for self destructing vending matchines in doorways" Typo was them, by the way. So THAT is what fucking happened.
As per the recent patch, I was playing on Rusteros 2x, a lightly modded server. I set up a vending machine, as I do almost every wipe (I have over 1,300 hours in Rust), and loaded it up with some early-game goodies. I had a few people come buy and use it, and I had access to i...
Can Vending Machines be improperly picked up/Despawn?
I've played over 1,200 hours of Rust and I have 10 screenshots in that folder.
16GB of memory is optimal for Rust. 8GB is the very minimum, considering the game can use anywhere from 5 to 7GB+. Restart your computer and kill everything that isn't Rust or essential when playing, only thing you can really do. Or just spend like $60 and double your memory.
To be fair, this game is a product that is paid for. Quality assurance should be guaranteed. No excuse for invalid or poor support.
Don't forget to go to the Rust folder and use the easyanticheat executable to repair service.
h*ck mate you made me almost choke on my water
The whole server browser needs an uphaul, its slow, shitty and lacks features such as advanced filters and more information.
I'm probably going to get massive flak for this, but why can we place scarecrows on built tiles? Mailboxes, for instance, can only be placed on the ground outside. Too many times have I been tricked into thinking a player is hiding by a window, when in reality, its a scarecrow...
Scarecrows/Snowmen being placed on foundations/roofs/etc.
Honestly, this makes rust literally unplayable. Valve Garry pls fix.
Tables can be halfway placed through walls.
Exactly that. Don't beat yourself up, it was confusing to me too. Its pretty easy to test yourself, though, so try it yourself. Luckily, it seems to be getting fixed soon.
Since people seem to be having difficulty appreciating the flexibility of this, let me remind you: Two roof tiles = 50 HQM. Upkeep = 7HQM/day. Here's a shitty base I slapped together with no pre-knowledge of making these bases, going off of what I encountered in a raid. LET M...
You can build a normal base around this. I've seen people hide their loot in an armored roof 1x2, with an actual base around it. That's not fair. That's not fun. That's not right. Forcing someone to expend a massive extra of resources simply to get past an exploit is not good ...
The crashes can be annoying, but they happen very rarely for me. Maybe once in every few sessions, but it still is disruptive. Haven't an idea why it happens, though.

Facepunch, please fix. (ROOF/Bunker Exploit)
As a fellow Canadian, this brings shame upon our name of goodly gents. You could try posting their steam profile links here. An easy way to do this is, when in game with them, shift-tab and go to the "view players" button. Navigate to their name and you can load their profile.
Mountains, my dude. Same stuff. They spawn on hilly/higher-terrain area. Or, y'know, scatter everywhere.
gods above please bring RU servers back. get them out of the other servers.
Firstly, when harvesting a person the hitbox can be very wonky. Sometimes I can hit their body with a harvesting tool and it won't do damage, despite making the noise, and I won't gain resources. If I move my hits around, eventually I'll find a spot that gives resources, such ...
IMPROPER HITBOXES on Corpses + Animal Harvesting Bugged(?), Bugs with RUST.
I was throwing stuff in as recycler, hopping around in-case someone drew a bead on me, and then I got kicked for this error. What gives? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1810/4b6ffe27-b786-4944-9a60-78a039da7f70/20180129141559_1.jpg
Weirdest random kick.
Heh. I got stuck going into a crate on Harbor, and couldn't figure out how to jump back past the invisible barrier. I've now used it to my advantage and I slaughter any fool who goes for that crate and cannot leave :^)
Why is it so hard to hit the right spot? Wood roofs do have a soft side, but you have to find the specific spot to actually deal soft-side damage, otherwise it counts as hard side. I've broken many hatchets and salvaged swords just trying to find the soft side. Is there a reas...
"Soft-side" wood roofs
You'd do best asking the Rustafied owners here https://www.rustaforum.com/ They aren't a part of Facepunch, and this is the official Facepunch forums.
Yeah, sorry, but this game is technically Early Access (even if its been years), so upon purchasing it, you agreed to deal with any problems that come up. Nothing that can be done!
