No Yeah - we do want to improve modding, but that's further down the time I'd love to say no, but the pragmatic answer is yes
Running staging servers hasn't changed, just keep doing whatever you're doing - no need for command line stuff yet.
I agree, we haven’t been great at managing the servers while we’ve been in Early Access. It’s something we want to get much better at going forward.
Some good idea - thanks guys
We're working on a list of hints and popups to make the game more user friendly. https://files.facepunch.com/garry/2018/01/10/72d96c97.png Is there anything you found confusing when you first played Rust? Anything we can add some help for?
Hints and Popups
What new sections would you like?
Having a damaged block doesn't deplete the resources faster than having all healthy blocks. The upkeep is based on the number of blocks, not on the health of those blocks.
Wouldn't it be faster to satchel the foundation to 0 health
What does that mean? Emotes per section, or per word?
You can host your css somewhere else and do @import
Looks like you found a bug - should be fixed now
Have considered it, but we don't really want to look like we're milking the skins while we're in early access.
So close https://files.facepunch.com/garry/2017/11/16/762319ca.png
It's something we wanted to do. The issue is that because the texture is flipped, any skins with text on them show reversed.
The way I envisioned it was that we'd create a procedural map, then bake it, then work on it by hand. Every month (or wipe) we'd ship a new iteration of that map. It always seemed to me that people preferred legacy's map because they had learned it. It wasn't a better map tech...
What do you guys think of getting not using procedural maps? Pros: Loading (much) Faster Less memory Perform Better (occlusion) Smarter AI Map can be improved incrementally Map layout doesn't change so players can learn it We don't spend more time making a procedural map gener...
Get Rid: Procedural Maps
It's how big your post can be. If you go over 100% it won't let you post. I'll add a tooltip for it.
Hey @foxKSA - this is useful to know. Unfortunately, we rely on Unity supporting this stuff and right now I don't think they do. Not properly anyway - as you're finding out. I've put it on my list anyway - and will check in with Unity about it asap.
We don't really ever force blueprint wipes unless we have to.
You can reward people that help you on the forums by giving them coins. They have no value right now, the only thing you can do is send them to each other.
I know it feels like nothing gets done, but it really does - and the reports really do help. We're going to look at ways to notify you when a cheat report is successful. I think that way it will feel like you're helping at least.
Submit a cheat report: https://rust.facepunch.com/feedback
They’re not marketable for a week or so after you buy them
Hey Max - looks like you were banned for using UberHatchet. I'm sure that wasn't you - but someone using your account did. If you want to appeal your ban you need to contact EAC.
How did you contact them?
We've talked about stuff like this. I think our time is better spent trying to reduce loading times, it's pretty insane right now.

Do you know the Ip of your server? Try replacing the Ip in this link with your server Ip. http://api.steampowered.com/ISteamApps/GetServersAtAddress/v0001/?format=json&addr=18.104.22.168 This will tell you if any servers are registered with Steam using that Ip address. If your...

They warned me about the hackers, but I never suspected that I WOULD BE ONE TOO
It shouldn't require a graphics card
But server owners will still be able to spawn in a million wood/rock/hqm and do whatever they want. Seems like this way works without any drawbacks. If you want to test set the max player count to 1 and join.
The poll is balanced. We're asking players - not server owners. The feature was added for the benefit of the players - not for the benefit of the server owners.
The whole point is that vanilla servers are the "honest mature" servers. Admins can turn it off using a mod, that will put them in the modded tab. So seems like it works how you want it?
Put decay.scale in the config file yourself
The linux server is being built and uploaded as far as I know
Rust is a DayZ rip off, who cares
There's lots of ways to make an end-game after levelling up to the maximum level, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Large groups should always be more powerful than a single person. That's how it works.
Good news guys, I think I fixed it. Patch will be out really soon. .. and now it's out.
Just to be sure that it's not something else.. if you run the game via RustClient.exe - does it work?
There's a wipe at the start of every month at the moment
If you're on the devbranch - yeah - that's normal. It's an EAC problem - we need to wait for them to fix it.
We post updates every week to our website. Why would I need to come to the forums and explain what we're doing? We haven't updated you on our long term plans for a while. This is coming next month. By the way - if the game isn't fun for you any more maybe you played it too ...
It's in 4 different parts, one for the body, stock, mag and barrel - so importing from is going to be pretty tricky if not impossible. I added the wooden storage box too :) [editline]27th November 2015[/editline] Also added bucket helmet, burlap pants, gloves and shirt
SDK updated with new AK47 skin
Can you run dependency walker on the new dlls plz
Looks like you're missing opengl32.dll - for some reason - this is usually installed with your graphics card drivers, but I'll have a look around for if we need to install something to enable it.
Can you do me a favour, download and install this http://www.dependencywalker.com/ And run it, open up RustNative.dll or RustNative64.dll - and then take a screenshot of the result or save a DWI file and upload it somewhere.
Just pushed an update that might fix this - should be on the dev branch quite soon
Hey Facepunch: The Snow Jacket skins are a little messy. The Unity mesh is only "Snow Jacket", but there are actually three versions: Snow Jacket -- Black, Snow Jacket -- Red and Snow Jacket -- Camo. If you make a snow jacket skin, I believe i...
Kind of. You're gonna lose some buildings, but then the next save will work. Sadface.
All cheats get detected eventually, the more widespread it goes the better. It makes it more likely to be detected and it means we'll ban more cheaters.
I banned him manually. He was spamming a server full of 100 people for 3 hours.
Polls aren't to choose what we do, they're to gauge popular opinion. It's not the UN.
I'll add better stuff in for admining - but for now this made more sense.
Yeah a lot changed. The skipping to players thing is gone. Space slows you down now, and you can add smoothing with camlerp 0.01 in the console
demolish immediate is an admin action
While i'm also concerned about the direction the game is taking it is for a different reason than the OP. As development moves on the gameplay looks, from my point of view, less like a survival game and more like a first person RTS. Currently the gameplay...
Yeah, one thing we should do really is make it so you can't place a cupboard inside the active cupboard radius
If people want to quit Rust because the gameplay changes over time, that's fine. That's what they signed up for. Come back when the game is finished and we're not updating anymore. These changes might seem extreme. The thing you have to realise it's 1 second to change it ba...
None of them are drops at the moment. The ones you're seeing on the market place are just a result of people finding the buy link. Content creators don't get a cut of marketplace transactions yet - that's something Valve are in the process of developing right now.
No it was always the intention to do it CS:GO style
The rules aren't set in stone, they're more advice/guidelines.
Ok guys your problems should now be fixed on the dev branch
