Man, you just necro'd a five-year old thread.
What the title said. Why has this been a bug for, what, years now? Really annoying to see arrows stuck in barrels despite already being "taken out", or floating spears. Even worse when one gets bugged out when its stuck in you.
Arrows/Spears/Projectiles being stuck in things even after picking them up
I'd just like to see rubber not give better protection than cobbled-together road-sign armor.
Damn, wonder how nobody had noticed that until now? Great find man!
I use about 9-10GB of memory playing Rust nowadays, its pretty ridiculous. Really embarassing to see a game run so poorly after being developed for so long.
Going by the gist of it, I can agree that the Helicopter is pretty much a joke; any server I play on, vanilla or not, will have the Helicopter killed immediately, even on the first day. They're very easy to destroy and pose little-to-no threat (de-auth on the Tool Cupboard, an...
The amount of HP they drain for eating them is unbelievable. Eat 10 pickles and you'll straight-up die! Really easy way to loot idiots in Bandit Town though, anyone who spams pickles. But why do they do so much direct HP damage? I always knew they have a chance to throw up and...
Pickles are the devil.
5 pickles for 1 scrap? Now THAT is a deal.
It actually will. I went from 8GB to 16GB of memory, and my loading time went from ~10 minutes to ~2-3. I got a SSD later on, and it went from 2-3 to about 1 minute. The RAM had a huge impact. RUST is extremely dependent on memory and CPU, so load times are improved when impr...
how the fuck did you find this to necro
Ignoring the bullshit of this thread, the workshop downloads can definitely impact performance on the game, I can routinely spike to 200-300 ping when one downloads, even if its just shy of 5MB. Very annoying, I don't know how to stop it, either. Luckily, I must have gotten mo...
I got into a 1v1 with a guy, and lit him with a python. We danced around a bus stop, and I rushed him with a waterpipe loaded with Dragon's Breath. I shot him dead on the chest, but it did nothing; all it said was "projectile invalid". It didn't even spawn the fire. He double ...
Why is Rust so damned buggy?
gods this guy is dense
Half of them literally don't change any values on the guns. Watch the video you damn funnel-spider eater.
I'd actually like to know how the algorithm for skin drops work. I have about 1,500 hours and never dropped anything over maybe 6 cents.
>8GB memory whew lad you're in for a !!FUN!! time.
How about you just remove the code lock item and keep the key lock in then? Its still stupid thinking anyways. People want to play with their friends...But it'd be way easier that way anyways.
You could develop an Oxide plugin and host a server running it.
No problem with that, but the feature is there. Maybe if you're KOS'd by outpost, it'll have a thin red outline when you use the map? No more unrealistic than the magical floating markers that we now have.
Outpost definitely doesn't KOS from a torch, I use them in it a lot. Heck, you can break barrels with a torch (And rocks) safely (EXCEPT for those oil barrels! DON'T TOUCH.) I definitely agree. Really sucks when you just don't realize it and get bloody slotted.
No, the owner of the server is free to make up his rules as long as they don't violate any sort of Facepunch terms-and-services.
I personally love the blueprint system, to the point where I hate playing on a server if it hasn't wiped Blueprints, even if I have a smorgasbord (that word took me a couple of tries to figure out how to spell it) of them.
I assume you're talking about the recoil, how the gun kicks up? Can't disable that, its a part of the game. Protip: pull down and left for pretty much every gun, works flawlessly.
Sounds like if the owners host their custom server, they can decide the rules. The real question is why are you playing on such blatantly cancerous servers? Sounds like a you problem.
Sorry, dumb of me then. Shame it didn't work. I guess you'll have to contact Facepunch directly?
You can press F7 in-game to report a cheater if that helps.
Evidently, you can break the normal barrels around Outpost outskirts if you use a rock or a torch, but if you hit an oil barrel, the turrets will KOS you. Now, this also comes with a bullshit problem: Why the hell are you KOS'd for 30 minutes after being shot once? Shouldn't i...
Your best bet would be to query Steam and send a support ticket in. I know that you can get games permanently removed from your list.
DAMN SON, YOU'RE GONNA BAIT SOME FISHIES WITH THAT, I GUARANTEE IT. *tips fedora* so, how's the wife's boyfriend?
SORRY, LAST I HEARD CAPS LOCK WAS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL.
Hey, at least you're white!
@Opp waaaaaaaaah waah
8GB of RAM? Sorry, is this 2009? I'd argue that 16GB could very well be the minimum Rust should have, because I'm playing right now and it is using 8,332MB of memory. That's 332MB than you have. If you're going to keep trying to play with that low of memory, you need to kill e...
gee willikers, its almost like Rust has no basis in realism in the slightest
Publicly releasing someone's IP address like that can be considered a crime in certain places, it falls on the same levels of "Doxxing" somebody. They could get into legal trouble for doing it, even if IP addresses are very easy to find.
Why the fuck aren't WOODEN SPIKES DEFAULT BP NOW? WHY CHANGE THIS, KIKEPUNCH? THIS IS A TRAVESTY. YOU DESERVE TO BE HUNG. Fucking remove the shitty barrel BP's and just make them default. All of the barrel BP's.
Gotta love a game that can't use the "Early-access" meme anymore for game-breaking bugs. Really outta get some quality checking done in those there Facepunch labs, aye.
Every anti cheat will always be behind the cheaters. You're talking about a few paid professionals against the world.
The obvious solution is to increase the cost of Rust to $120 USD, to prevent people from wanting to buy new copies to cheat on new accounts with. Duh.
Something like this happened on a server I was playing. Or, at least, someone was trying to tell the staff about it (Modded). I figured it was a problem of the modded server.
Yeah, I can understand, its a learning experience too . Just really sad.
Why does this exist? Instead of a "Turn back" or something similar, your boat literally despawns and you instantly die. I was solo in a boat, trying to escape some dudes, and it literally instantly killed me and my boat. Lost everything. That's stupid.
Despawn perimiter of the world
Helkus, 9 minutes ago: "whip coming soon". Typo intentional?
Without frame drops? Definitely not. You should expect around 30FPS stable on the lower-end of the settings. Make sure you put Max Gibs on 0. Nothing like having your computer freeze because something is coming down.
If deployable structures, or mini-structures are now going to be a thing, will we see the return of the instant 1x1? Or anything else? I'd love to see more following this trend, as long as it doesn't reach ridiculous levels. Also, there should be a step-ladder similar to the n...
Commits: "Watchtower Deployable".
Looks great! Really cool. I'd love to see a custom map focusing around a central city and outer hubs.
A radiation suit is better than wearing Road Sign armor (Chest/kilt) without clothes. With clothes on too, the Roadsign is better. The Coffee Can is 5% better than the Hazmat. Overall, the hazmat is equal to mid-tier armor, despite being very easy to find. I think an issue wi...
I actually would prefer the guns to be more realistic with more bump-based recoil, but Rust isn't very realistic anyways.
Oh yeah, Rust isn't a game made for solo/duo. You gotta play on a custom server that enforces that, the game is entirely geared towards large groups. Oh, its definitely possible, but its only if you WANT to play at a disadvantage. No more sneaking into a large zerg by stealing...
"Junkpile Scientists are again hostile to those that get too close." From the 21st. I guess Scientists are gonna blast at ya if you get close again next update? I probably would have never known. Hopefully this gives someone a heads' up.
Was browsing through the commits, and saw this:
Look, Thraag, if you're going to post in a thread like this, don't post images from an obviously insanely modded server lmao. Speak in Vanilla terms.
We have a special military pistol, a special military rifle, a special military shotgun, and I'd like to say the MP5 should be a special military SMG. Why not have a special military sniper? Why do you need to be so pessimistic to people just posting ideas? "lol y do u ned new...
Barricading doors overnight so that they equal the strength of walls? Sounds good to me. A barricaded sheet door should be as strong as a stone, and a barricaded armored as strong as sheet walls. Actually a really great suggestion, doors are -always- the weak point through a b...
"Just be grateful the game you spent cold, hard cash on has developers who systematically want to ruin it" That's like saying "Just be grateful you didn't get hit by a car when you walked on the street! Ungrateful FUCK!" absolutely retarded
Artificial "Balancing" at the cost of enjoyment.
I can agree that more, and hopefully better, types of auto-turrets would be a blessing. I'd love to see a high-damage, slow-firing alternative. Maybe it could be a magnetically-charged railgun of some sort, blasting out supersonic metal rounds? Heh. What about small, hand-de...
It really sucks to have such scattered animal spawns; any vanilla setting has them clustered in strange ways. Deserts are full of animals, but the snow lacks animals and hemp, so cloth/etc is a bloody pain to get. I was thinking that we could use a few more animal types. Plai...
The three biomes (Desert, Plain, Tundra) need more animal diversity.
To save time, instead of using pickaxes, we should be able to use the (possibly) future Jackhammer to slap through a backwards wall a bit faster, at an extra cost. Thoughts? Also, these thread icons are some real garbage.
The Jackhammer should be usable to dig backwards stone walls.
I agree with pretty much all of it, tbh. Good luck getting the devs to care, though. If you haven't already, make sure to submit your suggestions to https://rust.facepunch.com/feedback/ People are going to hate the tool cupboard thing, and it would be easily exploited, but I ...
Garage Door should be Tier 2. Boonies/Guitars/Toques/Wooden Shutters/etc should be default. There's other stuff, but that is what I can think of. My reasoning is that since Garage Doors are 2x as strong as Sheet, for only a little bit extra cost, they're almost as strong as A...
Really, TC's -should- be upgradable. More space, higher life, more resistance to bullets; - Maybe a sheet metal TC that can't be eoka'd or hatcheted, but would still crumble under, say, 4 satchels? (Same strength as a sheet door). I just don't like that TC's can be burned/dest...
I took the picture and pasted it into paint, then cut the genitals out. It took about two seconds.
See the image, I guess. It doesn't seem to provide any protection, but it does SAY that it does. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1810/c18d4a69-82f9-4c16-8b03-db4584f7c013/Broken.png
Broken armor still labels as giving protection [BUG?]
You couldn't see what anyone drew on a map anyways, that was broken since very early on.
The only issue I have is the fact that I can't have unlimited stack sizes in a TC. Or, at least, increased. I'm sure as hell not motivated to go on every day just because I have to move 25 stacks of stone from a chest to the TC otherwise all my work will be wasted. But its not...
Yeah, just purchase the game again on a new steam account. Its their brilliant plan; don't like your character? Pay them $40 for a makeover! Sneaky!
Try Rusteros. Its a 2x with increased stack sizes, no teleports, very limited kits (There's kit rock, kit torch and kit rusteros that gives a skinned T-shirt). No group limits, 2-week wipe cycles (First 2 weeks is full wipe, next two weeks is map wipe only). Be prepared for s...
Buy the game again on a new account. The devs really love their money.
Pretty shitty, yeah, I actually got time off specifically for today haha. Well, that plan is screwed. Evidently the update is tomorrow @ 3 EST. Helks' statement: "Sorry guys, we're going to delay the patch until tomorrow. There are some balancing issues with puzzles that re...
Possibly a light cause of autism. Wait, hold on, I think I'm seeing it...
Probably because you only have 8GB of memory and your graphics card has 2GB of virtual memory. I had issues running the game too, until I got 16GB of RAM. It seems to differ between person, but Rust has always used 6-8GB for me. Try putting "perf 3" (global.perf 3 maybe)(I f...
So, while having infinitely respawning nodes, barrels, trees and animals is the best way to have the system be standard in Rust, I was wondering if it would be possible to implement a more low-key server where, as time goes on, less and less resources are available. That means...
Decaying Islands - Resource alteration/scarcity.
ah, yes, impractical and useless clothing on an island of savages hell-bent on murder. +1
The reason being is that Facepunch doesn't have the capabilities to stop people from boosting their gamma up manually via NVIDIA/Monitors/etc, so they figured they'll level the playing field by making it pitch-black for everybody. Little did they know, that cheaters now pros...
Not enough Spartans in my opinion.
Try this. Facepunch Auth
Title. June 7th, right? I'd just like a confirm, because evidently blueprints will (finally) be getting wiped (possibly?) on officials.
Is the forced wipe going to be June 7th or May 31st?
That'll be $69.99 + tax.
If a server is hosted by a player, it goes by "Their rules". If the rules include something like no racism, then don't do it. But you're free to do something like that on an Official server, I've personally never seen anything enforced, and it'd be stupid for it to be. Be as e...
It really would screw over solo players. I've had so many situations where, by using the confusion of a large group, I can make out like a bandit. The game is obviously geared towards larger group = stronger, but its perfectly viable to survive solo or as a small group. Now, w...
Well, -I- really miss the sticky-pad sound of wolfsteps. Always made me thing some oversized frog was outside.
Used to happen to me whenever I got attacked by a hacker, i.e 0.0m bow shots in "Generic" location that just shredded me. Cheaters will always evolve, and, sadly, prosper...
The real issue is how easy it is to use ESP to find hidden stashes. Same problem with using it to see inside bases, loot in chests, etc. Very hard to detect, too.
I can't handle this guy, I'm just not going to respond to him. Yikes. Also, CaptainRussia, I had no idea shotgun traps could be placed on it. That's actually really cool. Time to set up a gate and a shotgun trap lol.
