The front page is bare on purpose. It's a front page not an index. It should be newbie friendly.
Then why doesn't facepunch and all your other sites have fixed width? Oh right, because everyone would complain and bitch about it like we are now. I never have, and never will understand your logic behind things.
Because people post big ...
It's not fixed width incase people have small monitors. Lots of websites are fixed width - why don't you contact their owners and bitch at them?
Just finished making the picture-by-picture tutorial of adding the Gmod Lua syntax highlighter to Notepad++, you should all be able to view it now. If we had the archive of the original SWEP tutorial, we could just copy paste that, because it was tho...
You're a genius
This is the way it is. It isn't changing. The 5 guys in this thread do not decide what's best for the community. I do. If you don't like it then start your own alternative full width wiki.
Lets not have a fixed width argument. This isn't web design. This is the way it is. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages.
Sorry, it's not changing.
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5601782/wow_garry_really.png[/img_thumb]
That's such a flawed argument. Show me wikipedia at that resolution - does it look great? No. Fixed width is staying.
Is there a way to tie our Steam accounts with our old one's? Any contributions made by people's old name will no longer visible to them.
Sorry, not really possible. We're just going to have to deal with it :(
Which bits are broken?
it's optimized for 1024x768, it's 950px wide
It isn't a tutorial, it's there ready to be filled in.
Increased the font size in PRE's - shift+f5 to get the changes
I don't even know why serverside/clientside functions/hooks are all seperated. Why not bung them all on the same page and highlight them with the server/shared/client icons?
This is a thread about the wiki, if you want to bitch about the main menu make a new thread.
I don't want people fucking around in the menu. They can fuck about if they want - but I don't want to encourage it.
Don't document them then.
I don't think the menusystem should be that well documented. It just adds confusion.
It hasn't gone?
I've made two pages - if someone could fleshj them out I would be very pleased. http://wiki.garrysmod.com/?title=Lua_Overview http://wiki.garrysmod.com/?title=Getting_Started_With_Lua These are the first ports of call for people new to Editing GMod. Be ...
I was an admin before. o: Either way, as long as I can assign rights and delete pages, should be fine.
Sorry, thought you could make yourself an admin using this, I'll give it to ya [editline]8th February 2011[/editline] [QUOTE=amcwatter...
Done (make you a bureaucrat)
No they will all still be attributed - the accounts just won't exist. [editline]7th February 2011[/editline] Ok, I did it. All old accounts are gone. You need to log in using your STEAM account now. There will be some weirdness about, but give me a break and let me know wha...
Ok, I got login working exclusively through Steam - but right now usernames are your steamid. I'm looking into a way to change this right now. [editline]7th February 2011[/editline] Wondering whether there's any harm in wiping the user's table right now?
Definitely can't now.
I'll document any functions that I'm pointed to. I'm not going to go looking around for those functions. I wonder if we could make a bot that cleaned the pages up. There's probably not that many that need fixing I guess?
Maybe we should have a wiki week where we all update the wiki at the same time.. after forming a plan of how to clean it up and present it nice. Anyone go to any other wiki's or documentation for something which we could borrow ideas from?
The wiki needs a serious kick in the face. Why is everything in coloured boxes. What's wrong with lists like a real wiki? It just looks awful and it confuses your brain when you try to use it. There's too much choice. What do I read first? Remove choices, make it simple for...
Registering is temporary disabled until I can fix this properly (I'm sick right now) [editline]4th February 2011[/editline]
But maybe garry should really make one wiki only with game-included stuff and lua and another one for third-party-stuff.[...
That's a VERY good idea, I'll look into that next week.
We're already using recaptcha. What do you want me to do?
