Yeah I'd rather have a small amount of valuable information than a mass of useless information.
Yo robo, add me to skype garrynewman82
Oh ok, when it was bought up I was under the impression it was happening to you right now.
What about the slowness issues garry? Are you guys working on it? I'm really only using the oldwiki right now since trying to update pages is horrible because it takes like 10 minutes for it to properly refresh and update.
Is it an issue still?
You can't cancel key trapping. All it's REALLY doing IIRC is ignoring the next button press.
Made the side bar visible by default [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] And removed comments from pages with no content
I will document it in a bit if no-one else does.
haha, sorry, removed :0
I added Disqus comments to the bottom of pages. I know this isn't particularly wiki-like - but in my experience in learning php the comments usually turn out to be more helpful than the page itself.
Yeah I think the pipes get interpreted as part of the template
I don't think the way to explain what the vector:Dot function does is to use mathematical formula. It seems like if they know that stuff they won't need to be told it.
Why are you doing ||A||
I think ShouldDropOnDie was removed and replaced with a weapon variable instead. I'll check into it though. I reorganised the front page, removed a bunch of static pages. Adding tutorials should only require adding appropriate categories to your tutorial.
Added a tutorial http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Chair_Throwing_Gun If you could scan it for errors/misinformation that would be kewl
Set up the bot to update the wiki from document comments. Not sure how to handle it if the page already exists - so I'm not gonna do anything right now. Only functions I added recently have got the comments though. http://wiki.garrysmod.com/index.php?title=Special:R...
Tutorials are something I want to do better. I'm planning to make a few more gamemode tutorials, and maybe some video tutorials for making gamemodes before the next gamemode contest
Yeah that isn't intended!
I was thinking it would be nice to have a `code snippet` category.. so that people can post useful code snippets - instead of full blown tutorials.. anyone think that might be a good idea? Kinda like this but on a wiki http://snippets.luacode.org/
How about this. If I have to look something up, I'll document it in the wiki. I think if other people do the same, it'll get everything filled in soon enough.
That would be very very much appreciated. In the mean-time I'll write a bot to st...
Can you create an official ask for functions thread or something? I'll happily fill out functions if I don't have to weed through irrelevant shitpost.
Why don't you create one? Why do I have to do everything?
as someone who is not learned in gmod lua functions i find it quite confusing to just have everything there with no explanation as to where its meant to be used etc wth guys stop shitposting
What do you want me to do? Spend all my time filli...
If you want a function def post in here and I will fill it out as best I can
Do you find yourself looking at the function list only wanting to see client/server functions?
It's a wiki - I don't get a team of people to fill it out. Anyone can fill it out.
Mark it for deletion then?
Can someone document IncludeCS? Doesn't it AddCSLuaFile and include it? Can someone clarify exactly what it does? If it is what I think, it's really useful, but nobody uses it. [editline]8th...
You want a cache'd version of the wiki with all the functions filled out but not the old one because the hooks changed? Do you think we deleted all of the hooks from the new wiki at some point?
Ok, I made some changes. Page browsing should be faster now, the 1-2 second 'page finished' delay caused by creating the nav bar on the left is gone. I haven't restored the search box column filtering functionality yet though, so will try to do that later on in the week.
Did some tweaking, should be a quite a bit faster now. The function list stuff is still slowing loading down a tad - I'll fix that this coming week.
You can define defaults for the parameters - if that's filled in then it's assume that it is optional. The text at the bottom shouldn't be there. It should be in the description. [editline]3rd March 2013[/editline] Makes more sense I thin...
I don't want to bring this up again, but the page really hangs when you type the first few letters of what you're searching for. When you add the hooks and other things it will be even slower. And I've got a fairly fast computer running chrome, ...
Hide it then? I fixed the hook pages not showing 'edit with form', and converted the entity, panel and weapon hooks over to it. http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Category:Hooks
Couple of updates.. I made the sidebar be out straight away when the page loads.. instead of coming out after it loads. I added hooks to the sidebar and converted all the old hook pages over to the new system.. incomplete: http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Category:In...
I hate how I have to click that little arrow to span out the search box, either make the arrow a tad bit bigger so it's easier to click or make it so that span is always open.
Can you explain what you mean?
It doesn't work like that
asynchronous timers? What are you talking about?
Yeah - you're right
Do you think we could have a default/autogenerated page for meta methods? Things like __eq and __gc that will often carry the same meaning in all situations. Just some default content like Then we won't end up with all the empty __blah link...
Can you add all the hooks to the sidebar? or is that on your todo list already..
Yeah hooks is next, gonna make another form system for it.
We've been talking about the wiki in about 4 different threads. So here's one dedicated to it. http://wiki.garrysmod.com/ I just added a more functional sidebar. Typing in the search box should filter the contents of it. It should also open up the function ...
