This is something I've wanted for a LONG time.
Bloggy Blog: https://forum.facepunch.com/blog/update-1/
Earn bounty by posting something that will make me happy.
Make Me Happy
Have made the post redirect - can you let me know if it's behaving like you expect?
Is marmoset always hosted on artstation?
The plan was, if after a week it's unanswered but there's an outstanding bounty, automatically resolve using the answer with the most Agree's.
Something that makes me wonder, should the help/support forums force threads to be solvable?
Yeah, wasn't planning to lock them. I was considering not bumping on reply tho.
I do indeed
Testing. You can ignore this if you want.
Solvable Thread Test
I don’t think so
Even though we already are using the funny?
Should be able to paste clipboard images now
Yeah I can probably make it so that post links link to the moved posts. If you could post a list of your links that you want to still work, that's be great for testing. https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1434585&p=46461828&viewfull=1
You can post forum feature requests here: Meta
Uploading photo from mobile test
Fixed file open dialog popping up, and added an upload button to the toolbar.
Yep - I found and have fixed the issue - thanks
Nope, it’s doesn’t work like that
Yeah my cousin has got norton from his school I'm gonna install that on amazon S3 and scan it every week
Yeah, one day. Quill actually has support for that built in, but encodes it as part of the post instead of uploading, so I need to custom it.
Yeah sorry - just fixed it
Can upload files now by dragging and dropping into the reply/new thread box. I am almost certain I'm gonna regret it, but since we're moving into the modern age, it seems like the thing to do. There's no file type limitations right now, I'm not sure if that opens us up to...
If people’s preference is to use chat rooms, they should use chat rooms. This is a forum.
It shouldn't replace it with an error message at any point, can you link me?
Yep, they increased
Good call, this'll become available with this stuff
In the future, yeah
Enhanced Edit Mode Subtitle Goes Here OPs should have enhanced editing abilities. Including things like titles and text alignment. This is another way to encourage people to make new threads instead of always relying on megathreads. Feature List Bigger Posts The first post...
Enhanced Edit Mode Test
Quote Links should now link to the post being quoted
A thread will be best yeah
I'm not adverse to bringing these old ratings back. Make a thread per rating.
Not many plans on this. What I find with API's is that it's best to find the ideal situation and then do that. So maybe you guys can create a consensus on what that ideal situation is, and we'll do that?
Default visual studio
It’s on the roadmap I think?
You should be able to use the Follow Forum button at the top of the forum to follow it. If you're following a forum you'll get alerts when new threads are made.
I kinda like this yeah
If you get an alert from a post, the alert will get marked read automatically if you view that post. This should mean that when the alert icon is lit, it's always stuff you haven't seen.
Alerts Get Read Automatically
Links to legacy threads should redirect to the thread now, instead of the forum. Let me know if you find any links that don't
Edit: Testing again Edit: Okay - should be fixed now thanks
I'd rather have a thread per suggestion/issue/problem than a megalist bitching thread
Good calls, thanks
Put up a help page here: Help Anything you feel it should address that it doesn't already?
FYI, we have a meta forum here: Meta So if you don’t like something please go here and start a thread. The purpose of moving these sections over before the others was to get and react to feedback.
Yep. And that’s a problem we need to fix.
Yeah they should show up in your alerts, but they might be being marked as read before you can get to them if you view the post first
Hello you dirty and
I agree, we need to think about what to do on Mobile though.
Why would they work in quotes
Press the top of the screen to scroll to top
While this is true, I think it's a symptom of how the forums were managed. We frowned upon low quality threads, and encouraged people keeping tabs of a few threads with read threads. I think there's stuff we can do to encourage people to make new threads. Simple things like...
Yep, that's something that's on my mind too. Might do it more incremental, move the games and lesser known forums over first.
I've updated the Roadmap with some more plans, and removed the stuff that has been done. Progress is faster than I thought, so I've revised the dates. It's likely that the full switch will happen Q1 2018 now.
Closing this thread now we have a forum. Make a new thread for particular suggestions etc.
The things you’re complaining about have been fixed, that’s what this thread was about. quotes are plain text versions of the post you’re quoting. Deal with it.
Sounds like the worst quote system you’ve ever used
Please tell me what else you're not a fan of
I don't want any parsing in quotes, I want them to be plain text. That's why there's no quotes in quotes, or code in quotes.
Hello this is a quote. You shouldn't see this in quoted text. But you should see when I mention 's sexy name
I don't really want to get into the business we had in the old forums of closing and condensing little used forums. That was my initiative, and it pushes people into single forums with megathreads. I'd rather have niche forums like this and find a way to encourage usage.
Sorry, will fix that tomorrow: Legacy Account Migration
Because people were making 50mb posts
Keyboard interaction with @mentions should work now !
Yep - that's on my todo list
Playing now if you wanna join https://blizzard.com/invite/5Pk9OIejw
Quill does have this all built in, but I haven't enabled a lot of it. I didn't really want to differentiate between the OP and the replies in this way, but maybe we should. Seems like the kind of thing that would encourage people to make new threads instead of joining megathre...
I’d rather have a waywo forum, and people make threads about what they’re doing. We need to move away from this mega thread mentality.
Well, I dunno. I dunno if we should be encouraging these kinds of posts that quote a ton of other posts. I don't even know whether we should be encouraging these kinds of threads.
Okay - you should be able to type @ then start typing a name to mention people. There's not alerts yet from mentioning There's no keyboard interaction yet (plan is so you press @ then press down and enter to mention rather than using the mouse)
testing again with fix I shagged Edit: killed my dog
One of the things that could solve the exploitation is if you had to offer the reward yourself. Which you can technically already do by just giving people a coin I guess.
It's definitely nicer when linking to threads Child Molester is Not A Good Replacement for Dumb vs https://forum.facepunch.com/f/meta/osrb/Child-Molester-is-Not-A-Good-Replacement-for-Dumb/1/
Link Test: bit.bnot Pressing undo (ctrl+z) will undo the parse: http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/bit/bnot
I have considered this. We need to be careful of systems that can be gamed. Like if I set up an alt and keep asking questions and answering them on my main, and keep getting coins/levels based on that.
