Animal husbandry would be interesting to see, especially with plans for riding animals in the future. I'd actually like to see raising chickens for eggs and other utility creatures. Who doesn't want to armor up a battle-wolf to protect your base when you're offline...?
Er, a bit off-topic, but yeah. You'll have to find where it is in here yourself though. Base Design Guy posted it recently on the forums.
Ah, yes, forceful internet censorship always works so well. "My opinion is the correct one, so censor it in the way I wish!" Brilliant. Knowing Facepunch, they'd probably do it.
I think so, but only due to a video I just watched of some guys' base build.
Or, CaptainRussia, they could implement a simple game mechanic to improve placing them. But, yes, as he said, that works. I think we all know it, but its still a right pain in the rear.
Exactly that. Don't beat yourself up, it was confusing to me too. Its pretty easy to test yourself, though, so try it yourself. Luckily, it seems to be getting fixed soon.
No Facepunch, please fix. (ROOF/Bunker Exploit)
Sounds like you need to grow some tougher skin there lad.
They're fixing the bullshit "place twig, open the roof bunker" exploit? Great. Me and my friend went up against a massive base with a bunch of the other players on the server, a lot of solo's, duo's and stuff, and all teamed up against the biggest zerg that we've ever seen. Al...
WHOA We need a shitposting forums.
Whoaaa, cool stuff!!
I had no idea that rubber was as good at protecting bodies as crude metal armor fashioned from roadsigns or coffee cans. Not complaining, though. Just wondering.
Why does the Radiation Suit provide 30% bullet protection?
People can authorize on the turret separately. It doesn't go off of cupboard authentication. If an auto turret is OFF, anyone can hold E and Authorize or Clear Authorize List, just like for a cupboard.
The sun glare is pretty shite, I can't argue with that. Doesn't bother me too much though. Just don't look at it! Hoy hoy hoy.
I'm looking for a pretty specific sort of server, and I was wondering if anybody knows of one that fits most of my specifications. If not, I may have to think into hosting something for my friends and I. Pretty much, though, what we're looking for is: -Increased stack sizes (V...
A query on possibly existing server types
I like the blueprint system. What I don't like, are the official servers not wiping them on at least a month-by-month basis. I find the game a lot more fun.
The real issue is a huge amount of people use ESP/Wallhacks/chams, and can see player outlines/etc at night. This is extremely unfair because legitimate players have to deal with complete blackness, but cheaters just see people clear as day.
That'd be a nice implementation, Elosan. I'd love pockets/slots for...Well, everything you mentioned. A compass, a watch, etc; would all be useful.
Since people seem to be having difficulty appreciating the flexibility of this, let me remind you: Two roof tiles = 50 HQM. Upkeep = 7HQM/day. Here's a shitty base I slapped together with no pre-knowledge of making these bases, going off of what I encountered in a raid. LET M...
I'm no expert, but I believe that means your client is updated, but the server is not updated. Ask the server owner to update the server. No reason for toxicity.
Very interesting stuff, thanks Facepunch! I hope to see Scientists' utilized more. I like the idea of them roaming and checking out junk piles on roads, right now everybody bases near/on roads or monuments.
You can build a normal base around this. I've seen people hide their loot in an armored roof 1x2, with an actual base around it. That's not fair. That's not fun. That's not right. Forcing someone to expend a massive extra of resources simply to get past an exploit is not good ...
The game isn't going to ban someone over using hardware. That'd be the shittiest form of prevention. Even the software for the mouse would only trigger something if it was running, so just don't run or program it and you'd be fine. Even then, you should be fine.
Seems kinda pointless if maps are no longer an item. I agree, it'd be more "Realistic", but who wants to spare a slot for a compass?
Jesus, "360-degree thing"? An in-game compass would be nice. We have magical, floating, auto-updating maps, so why not attach a compass to it?
The crashes can be annoying, but they happen very rarely for me. Maybe once in every few sessions, but it still is disruptive. Haven't an idea why it happens, though.
A miner's hat means you have to remove your helmet, which is a death sentence with an aura of light covering you. It screams "Hey, shoot me in the face". The flashlight in the game has to be held, meaning you don't have a weapon out, and the weapon flashlight follows the weapo...
Nightly excursions are quite a pain, so it'd be pretty cool to see a flashlight you can "Attach" to your chest (Say, at the expense of a Gear Slot) that functions like a weapon flashlight, but stays on for good. Maybe give it a large, wide halo of light that doesn't reach very...
Not to be rude, but your English lessons need a bit of a refresher, I'm having trouble understanding your meaning. Are you implying rebuilding a base without clearing TC auth after being raided? I doubt very much a TC is going to survive a raid if its locked, and with the new ...

Facepunch, please fix. (ROOF/Bunker Exploit)
Do you mean the ability to destroy walls you built instantly? If so, that's there so that people can't wall in loot/TC/etc and just destroy it whenever they wish to access it. If you mean "People blowing up your base", well, its just Rust, so...?
One is a tool for harvesting wood at an increased rate. It'll most likely be quite loud, and take low-grade fuel or oil to operate. The other is a military-grade shotgun with extremely rapid fire. My guess would be it'll be a "drop-only" weapon, similar to the M92 or LR300, bu...
Yeah, you'd have to be an idiot to rate any game, ever, a 10/10. I'd go so far as to say giving a game a 9/10 would be personal bias. 7/10 is a solid review. If 5/10 is an average game, 6/10 is an above average, 7/10 is an above-above average game. People are acting like a 7/1...
why do people do things: the thread
I agree, CaptainRussia. The helicopter is plenty strong as it is, it can take a beating and is very dangerous, but there's little to no personal risk. You make a tower and shoot from it. If you die, you respawn and get your stuff; - The helicopter will most likely go down near...
Does the Helicopter feel too weak?
I was playing on a fully vanilla server, asides from two-week wipe cycles. Day one of the BP wipe, a group took down the helicopter within the first 3 hours of the server being up. To be honest, this seems ridiculous, and when I asked them about it, they said its because "ther...
It'll be a thing when you slap it together as an Oxide plugin and make a server hosting it!
Ladders are quintessential in raiding. Haven't you fallen into a triangle 1x1, or been unable to get over a wall as a solo player? That's just terrible design. Ladders circumvent that. Plus, roofs should be used for a reason; I like Facepunch' older thought of making the roof ...
You have a choice, here: Play on a Community Server that can moderate to ban cheaters, but risk abuse; OR Play on an Official Server, and realize everybody cheats because Facepunch can't pay for any sort of competent anti-cheat software.
Animal riding is on the Roadmap. That's why they added mountable chairs. Its been thought of, and might be planned.
What is a SEA server? Steam Early Access?
Crop growing is going to get an entire overhaul, the current system is just temporary. Check the Roadmap, they're planning for "Farming 3.0".
You could just use slugs in the Eoka. That works, by the way. Not exactly what you're describing, but, close enough.
At the Chinese Communist Party. The CCP is the worst group imaginable, featuring insane human atrocities and blatant censorship of every media or news outlet, along with extreme racism that would make neo-nazis feels shame. Stand up, Chinese people! For your question though no...
If you have, say, a tool cupboard smushed up against a wall and they blast that wall down, yeah, it'll destroy the cupboard. Happened to me a few times now when raiding. Won't take damage if its not touching the wall, though.
That's pretty cute!
Shotgun traps only take handmade shells, but I do the same thing and you can always crouch up to it and shoot it out. If not, then I've never seen that, you should send pics. I'll adopt it.
They are a bit shite, I can agree on that. I actually don't go for them because I value the gear I have on more than anything in them, but if they were TOO good, that'd be bad. I feel like wood armor and lower-tiered clothing should be removed from the drop table, and leave th...
My bad. I implied that in a way, but meant differently because there's only one type of wood-giving tree, the Tree. With the same system, it'd just spawn more trees, rather than similar nodes.
? There was a huge outcry before, people complained. Changed a few months back.
We currently have a system where if one type of node is mined out, it increases the spawn rate of it; e.g early game people tend to mine Stone first, and so Stone nodes will spawn more often. However, populated areas will quickly be desiccated of trees; - Early into a two-week...
Do Trees grow too slowly?
Well, he took your 40 satchels, but you took his $40 that he needs to spend on Rust again. So, don't feel too bad!
I've dealt with those by sneaking close and looking up. Never had an issue with it, just shoot them. Should be like, 30 shots or something depending. Not a whole lot. But yes, if you destroy or auth on the TC, the shotgun trap shouldn't shoot anymore.
How is this not an exploit? People are abusing the system to hide goods and loot. I've come across MULTIPLE armored/sheet "Bunkers" that have no doors, no dropboxes, nothing to get in or out. Are Facepunch going to fix this, or ban the people abusing it? Its way too powerful. ...
"Toblerone Bunker Base"
Build a base that takes more to get into it than they get out. This works best if you enjoy building, I suppose, but its what I do. I mean, I know that's obvious, but I see a lot of solo players build a small stone base and live out of it. A big group is just gonna walk by, th...
Your best bet for an EAC ban would be to contact the EAC developers. Rust simply runs the EasyAntiCheat system for their game, I don't think they control EAC bans specifically. Check here. Easy Anti
Nah, fuck that, everybody breaks barrels. I'm sick of getting the same garbage from them. If you've learned a BP, it shouldn't drop.
I'm glad that Metal Pipes are so cheap, then. I can get my rockets in bunches of 5 for 100 scrap now, woohoo!
I can agree. They are unbelievably annoying to keep getting.
Holmzy (Rust Developer/Admin) Spawns in his friend to take loot from a hacker base he blew up.please
Well, I'm not looking in that for entirely proof, but that is pretty scummy if done. If your game engine is vulnerable to allow people to exploit it to such a degree, it is your job to fix that, not to "Reward" players for their diligence in suffering through it. I've lost man...
I'm not saying make all of the components free. I'm saying there's a huge gap between the cost of a single Gear and the cost of a single, say, Metal Pipe. Why does the former cost 100 scrap, but the latter 20? There should be better balancing there. Pipes may be a bit more com...
That's a good question. Compared to the Salvaged Sword, or the Longsword, or even the Cleaver, the mace is a truly awful weapon. I prefer a wooden spear over it. I assume its just depreciated content, and will probably be removed/reworked in the future. Hopefully. I feel like ...
I believe its to prevent people from using workbenches to block doorways/entrances. The level 2 and 3 are extremely durable, and if they were able to be picked up and replaced, they could simply be used as more protection offline. Of course, adding a HP value to it and perhaps...
Your best bet is to build a normal base, but inside of it have a sneaky fully armored cube with dropboxes leading in/out. No door into it, you can dropbox your loot in and take it out, and armored is strong. I knew some crazy fuckers who had a 3x3, fully armored.
Glad it did! Kinda a crappy way to fix it, but at least it worked. Good luck with your cave base!
No? You can craft components on Vanilla.
Right now, the costs to craft components are: Gears: 100 Scrap, 25 Metal Frags Spring: 50 Scrap, 2 HQM Metal Pipe: 20 Scrap, 2 HQM Road Sign: 20 Scrap, 2 HQM Metal Blade: 10 Scrap, 30 Metal Frags Propane Tank: 10 Scrap, 100 Metal Frags Sewing Kit: 20 Cloth, 3 Rope. Why do the...
Lower the cost for crafting Components. (Or just Gears).
Why, I quite like being quad-headshotted with an Eoka at 400 meters by a man who doesn't speak English. It really goes to show how diversity IS our strength!
You could try playing on a Whitelisted only server. I think Rustafied Edge is one of them, you either sign up and get approved, or pay a small monthly fee. Where there is online gaming, there will be cheaters. This is unavoidable. No anti-cheat will evolve fast enough to coun...
As a fellow Canadian, this brings shame upon our name of goodly gents. You could try posting their steam profile links here. An easy way to do this is, when in game with them, shift-tab and go to the "view players" button. Navigate to their name and you can load their profile.
Decay affects the building locations furthest from the TC, so the inner section will decay slower. As well as, yes, if you have no HQM in it, anything made out of HQM will decay, but the rest (stone/metal/wood) will be unaffected. You can safely upgrade it to Armored and let i...
Your best bet is just to play the game however you'd like. There are now a plethora of tutorials to hold your hand, and frustration leads to either defeat or greater effort. If you play Rust complacently to learn it, you're going to have a real hard time getting into the groov...
The best compromise is to drag the slider bar to a tiny amount before the "T" in "set", and that should 2/3rd the stack, then you just halve the remaining larger one and voila.
That's a good question, actually. Not sure. But the Armored Door is 12 satchels, don't forget. So its 4-9-12 for the metal doors. (I think 1 satchel does 70 damage, yeah, to the garage door, and it has 600 life, so its actually about 8.5 satchels). I do think it should be tou...
Fair enough, but check the roadmap, Electricity is on it.
Wow, we're already partially there! We DO have a chain-link fence! Windmills are already in the game, too, you can spawn them in creative! Electricity may or may not be planned.
You people are arguing semantics. In real life, there's no "Aim pattern", but in the end, Rust is a VIDEO GAME. They can design their weapons however they want to. Also, to your argument of "lol u cant spray ak irl", that isn't actually very true. As an avid /k/ goer, the mode...
Make Tool Cupboards stronger, but make it so they can't be locked. You can store upkeep in them, but people can steal 'em. Even if its locked, its 20 or 25 handmade shells and one eoka pistol to break it. Hardly an effort. If they were tough to break and you could access the l...
Cheats would just evolve past it and it'd be a pointless mechanic. You literally cannot win; a team of developers working hard, or thousands of sweaty, unemployed worthless netizens? The latter have just that much more time on their hand. Its a good thought, but in the end, it...
Yes, I agree, keep the containment servers up!
Mountains, my dude. Same stuff. They spawn on hilly/higher-terrain area. Or, y'know, scatter everywhere.
gods above please bring RU servers back. get them out of the other servers.
No, if you're game-banned, you will have to purchase Rust on a new Steam Account to play again.
That's a joke, Jason, we all watch Shadowfrax' videos, but spreading misinformation like that isn't smart. No, you would not be banned for wearing Frog Boots.
Facepunch, please, add a subsection for Non-English speakers. It would really be nice!
Good find there! But, you're better off using Facepunch Auth (Link) to report bugs. Now, people may try and abuse this (even if its not a very effective exploit).
