Community Update 117

Real-world Rust-based nudity and more.

03 January 2017
...ahhhhhhhhhhrrrggggghhhhhh! Sorry, that was just the tail-end of my 2016 scream. Let us never speak of that year ever again. Hello! You'd think that having time off would energise me, but I ended up being ill for most of it, and haven't had one decent night's sleep in a week. Let's see how an exhausted writer, high on flu meds and cough syrup, gets shit done. I'm taking the wheel. I yoinked the main image from RejectedPanda20 on reddit. I had to crop a lot of it to make it fit the page, but it was mostly just sky.
Osall remade de_dust2 in Rust. Dave Johnston, the maker of the original map, says it's a "very good effort, that", and probably nodded wisely. I'm not even kidding.
Charborg's cut of his time in Rust made me laugh, and though right now a blank wall could probably make me laugh, I assure you this is good. The cave troll is awesome.
Surge has made some great Rust vids already, and took a swing at redoing the trailer. It's really good, though we don't like to talk about the bears around here.
Dedication to the cause of Rust film-making: wandering around naked in the snow. That's what MineDatFunky managed to convince people to do to make this Rust-inspired Christmas film. And here's how it was made: The best thing about this? That the Santa hat is now Rust canon.
Shadowfrax filmed DDave_x's comic. Good start, 2017.
So I think this is a trailer for a server, but it's also amusing that The Good The Bad & The Naked are capable of making the game appear pretty Wild Westy. And not just in the video: the server is WW RP. Details are here. As a Gold Rush fan, I was emotionally invested in this.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Share your base designs, show off a game-mode from your server, or if your server has an interesting theme. There's a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well. I can't respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
