Community Update 129

Pizza and strippers, storming the beaches, and more.

Just a couple of Community Updates ago, we visited Mom's House, which was a nice and cosy little base on the reddit server. What the game didn't provide in items, she crafted out of paintings. They added a lot, and the art was excellent. With a full wipe since then, Mom has rebuilt. Bigger, bolder, and even lewder than before: her new place is an entire town, complete with a hotel, a sheriff's dept, a market, a church, a strip club, and a pizza parlour. It's a bit less cosy than her other place, but the Spinners as pizzas are worth the whole build. There's only one way this ends: a Mom server.
Rust Youtube proverb say: "If an event happens on a server and there's no-one there to record it, did it make a Raid Cam?" Hey, no-one said proverbs had to be catchy or make sense. Anyway, the people of Rust clan CML hosts a weekly event on their private server, which means you're probably not invited. The latest was an impressive feat of building, where they crafted something approaching the Normandy beach invasion out of Rust's building tools. I was particularly impressed by the landing boats. They did the smart thing and invited Swemba, who classed it up with nice shots and Spielbergian drama. PitchDank also showed up to run around as war correspondents. They got what they deserved. Mission accomplished.
Returning to Holdacious and his Bushcraft series from last week. This actually completes it, as it's a short experiment from him, but one I thoroughly enjoyed. The rules: he can't build anything. His plan is to drop sleeping bags around the map, hide stashes, use furnaces found in the wild, and trade. It's pretty much like camping, but also seems quite stressful. Sort of a plot twist, and some proper drama at an airdrop. I genuinely loved watching this, Holdacious.
Absurdity is a good reason for me to cover stuff, so I'm with MikeTheVike 100% when he wants to record something like the first base. I'm also in a bind because I want to talk about it, but I'll have to wait until you've seen it. So click and we'll reconvene after the video. Amazing. I've seen giant walls in Rust, and I've seen large signs, but I've never seen an insult so large that the game's view distance claims some of it.
Just DAF4Q's take on Rust music. You know the library bit in the original Ghostbusters? That's what this tune reminds me of.
Xtab's back again with a weekly look at the skin workshop. That's a given for the moment, but he's also taken some time to put together a post on some best practices for the budding skinner. He just really loves skin, I think.
It's laggy, but Snellular plays Rust with voice control. This must be what it's like being a demon in possession of a body.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Share your base designs, show off a game-mode from your server, or have you done a cool thing with Code Locks and Vending Machines? There's a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well. I can't respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
