The header this week is from Guacamole Jones's new series. He went out to see what difference the new blueprints makes to solo player on a busy server. That amazing header is by Munt Face, and appears on the second video of the series. Guac pulls it off, but quickly sours on the whole solo experience and bags in a friend. I love that BP image.
Getting an email from Garry is always terrifying. "Does it contain my P45?" I fretted? It turns out I was a few numbers off, and it contained a P250 that was hand-made by a fan called Eugene Quick from the Ukraine. He also made the SMG. That's some good use of metal, wood, and cardboard. He's not the only one crafting at his workbench through the wee hours of the night. WalcomS7 took a Nerf gun apart and made this. Generally I'd put a collection of images of it here and that's that, but he's gone through the process step-by-step on Imgur, and you should take a look there as the captions are pretty detailed. And here it is live. You guys are great. Also this week, Fenrisúlfr built the cutest base. It is small. Six hours that tiny house took to build.
Art this week Mr.MichaelPL's United World. He clearly predicted Monday's sky with his colour scheme, so I attempted to get in touch with him via psychic means to check if he truly has the third eye. There was a lot of straining and a headache, and when I came to I realised all I'd managed to do was leave a mark on my wall and scare my cat. It turns out he hedged his bets and created three more. Here's the others from our non-psychic friend: Night Version, a Cold Version, and a Forest Version.
Reddit has been busy redesigning the game for us for the past, ooh, three years now. More specifically, this week they came up with a neat idea. And by 'reddit' I mean samsy2, who came up with this smart use of the in-game map on the respawn screen, suggesting that it shows you where on the map your bags are. Just a notion that I liked.
I came across Boom Dude's base build channel as I was looking about the interwebs this week, and scrolled and scrolled and scrolled on his channel. He's been very busy attempting to find the perfect Rust base shapes for all kinds of scenarios, and I liked how he took the position of not using blueprints for a few. You'll almost certainly find something in here to suit your needs. I wonder how base design would change with more object clipping?
[Creak of coffin opening] "Velcome my vriends, I am your (g)host Craig Vearsome, here to - " [sound of coffin opening sound effect skipping over and over] "Can someone get that, please? Anyone? Hello! I am your - I am - Look, it's really quite distracting... Wait, can anyone smell burning?" [sound of fire extinguisher and coughing] "Oh, forget it!" Hello! Sorry about that. I tried to make it a little bit special, to imbue the blog with the sense of dread and terror it deserves, but we got some cheap Halloween cobwebs that don't play well with the extra drippy candles. Anyway, I was doing it because of Xtab's Saltyween skin contest, which is basically Halloween but better. Here's how it all works. 5 Awards!

  • One Noob Award for best skin from a contestant with fewer than three approvals.
  • No prizes awarded, but you’ll have better than average chances of approval.

Banana Duck has an important PSA for you regarding Below Average Rust Players. Now you know what to look out for, keep an eye open.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Share your base designs, show off a game-mode from your server, or have you done a cool thing with Code Locks and Vending Machines? There's a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well. I can't respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
