Hello! I usually explain what the top image is about right away, but not today. Today I'm going rogue for just a few sentences. This is the final community blog of the year (there's room for one more, but my landlord has got in the way, meaning a hasty move over the holidays for me)! I'd like to thank you all for making it easy to compile. There's never been a week when I haven't had to make hard decisions over what to fit in, and the scope of what you've made has made this a very fulfilling job: I've watched raid-cams, let's plays, and weird comedy skits. There's been art, impressive builds, and a pile of real-world creations that fascinated and terrified me. You've broken the game in so many ways, but you've also even made programs to let people practice building without worrying. That's above and beyond.
That last one will happen on Dec the 10th, when Rubled goes live on Steam.
Cool stuff.
Oh, yeah. The intro image is a snap from PitchDank's 'The House'. Here's the thing: I am a bit of a sucker for stupid punchlines, particularly after an over-long build-up. Like this episode of Red Dwarf. So I enjoyed this.
Hehe.
This is just a neat little sequence from Zuckles. He's naked with a bow and raiding against three armed and armoured people. There's two very nice bow shots in this.
Now he needs to have a bow off with Holdacious. Speaking of him...
Holdacious heads out into a server after a fresh wipe. This means you get to hear every thought he's ever had in his head. There's a lot of talk about his bottom, bases, and bears' assholes.
It's kind of fascinating how much of a difference a chat track makes to a video. The action is fairly typical, but it's Holdacious's ranty nature that keeps you hooked.
This might be the first time anyone has uttered the phrase "make haste" in Rust. Brunt Force Trauma is working on an epic of Rust proportions, and like all movie makers with serious pretentions, they want you to know about it. Here's a trailer/prologue thingy to Clan Wars, a surprisingly epic looking piece of machinima.
It'll be episodic, so if you liked what you saw you'd best sub.
Here's an interesting little video by SGT Solj: he's set up a wall of every tier and attacks them with raiding equipment of every order. Of course, we reserve the right to change the stats of each of these whenever we patch the game, but it's a good look at the various damages.
Good job. Solj has lots of other videos on his channel, but they either show how to break the game, or they're round-ups of community content that requires a vote. I tend to steer clear of those because I don't want to skew any voting patterns.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Now's the time to share your base designs, or get into the growing Raid Cam business, or show off a game-mode from your server.
There's a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well.
I can't respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
