I'm always a little bit wary when recommending comedy, but PitchDank's amazing Rust Zone videos are also very well made, and they'd be here even if they didn't crack me up. Your host: Brad. The place: The Rust Zone. The schtick: 1980s public access TV news based on recent Rust updates. If you're not familiar with the cheap, awkward, and often terrifying world of crap TV it's parodying, it does it so well you don't need to be. Just imagine any other subject in place of Rust--religion, UFOs, music--and you're there. This is only the second episode, but I'm already hooked. Keep track of their Twitter post-update and you might get your tweet read out on air.
In MrMemeio's newest video, he opens up a portal into Rust's past-life. It serves as a warning against walking through wibbly paintings and putting your trust in Early Access. Don't worry. All he needs to do to get back is right-click on the game in Steam.
Base designs comes in lots of forms, but this one isn't about how many walls can fit between you and the outside world, or how to construct a sniper tower. No, pedr2o has built a base into the rocks then stuck paintings to the outside with a pattern and colouring that blends into the surroundings. The door gives it away, but if he builds around it he could still hide it. I can only draw stickmen, which is why my camouflaged base is constantly raided. PS: this is actually my favourite bit of in-game art.
I've been looking for some vanilla Let's plays this week, and handily enough the Yogscast has provided. A lot. Like, a huge amount. Sips kicked off a solo run, trying to figure out how much the game has changed, how to live in the world of Rust, pondering what he can make and how long he'll last. Spoilers: about two mins. Welcome to Rust, Sips! But he persevered and now has hours and hours of Rust. But that's not all. He's teamed up with Lewis and Pyrion Flax to play together on a server. This playlist shows how they've survived so far. Pyrion has his own Rust vids on the go as well, where his ruthless streak really comes out.
"Not every painting in Rust needs to be a swastika." If we had anything approaching a PR department, they'd probably tell me off for writing that, but there's a lot of truth in Tatten's quote: Rust's paintings can be offensive and/or cock-shaped (that's why we made them breakable), but they can also be works of art, and that's what he's showing off. He's Rusty Pirate Painting's banner artist, and they wanted to show off his work, and I'm a sucker for a time-lapse of anything. That shot at the end, the giant with his hand around the door, is really impressive.
Back in the days of Community Update 81, we showed off a 3D printed axe that was being made. Well, it's now out in the wild, in the hands of MikeTheVike. Take a look. Now do the Dome, and make it 1:1.
I don't know what this is, but it apparently took Rcham a week to edit, so it could potentially be art.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Now's the time to share your base designs, or get into the growing Raid Cam business, or show off a game-mode from your server, or if your server has an interesting theme. There's a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well. I can't respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
