Instrument Pack

Introducing our musical instrument DLC

19 November 2019
General
The instrument pack is the first premium DLC for Rust. It contains ten new playable instruments and will be releasing alongside the next update on the 5th of December. It's going to be $10 with a launch discount and is available for wishlisting right now.
We've created a whole new control system to play the instruments. You can now bind the standard note range (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) to any key. From there you can bind sharp and octave modifier keys which allow you to play over 20 notes on some instruments. If you've got a MIDI device sitting around you can plug it in and play most instruments in real-time. MIDI devices allow for a much more accurate and fast paced playing style. This feature is disabled by default and can be enabled in the experimental options section.
When looking at the way other games have handled DLC, we noticed the tendency it has to fracture and split the community. This is something we wanted to avoid. Owning this DLC should make the game better for you and everyone else playing with you. The ability to play the instruments isn't restricted to DLC owners. If your friend crafts a guitar for you or you take a tuba from a rotting corpse - you'll be able to do everything a DLC owner can. We've updated the original acoustic guitar to the new music control system which will be available to everyone.
In order to give the instruments some time to get tested in the wild they are being rolled out onto the staging branch today. This test period will run from now until the DLC release. During this time the instruments will be free to craft for everyone on the staging branch.
