... elcome, elcome, elcome.... Header image is Shurikangraalian's take on caves. They nailed the atmosphere; I wouldn't want to go in there without backup. There's a fuller version here, apparently is support of Rustafied. It's cool to see artists being inspired by Rust. Shurikangraalian also makes in-game art using the paint tool, and was working on this unfinished piece on commission before a server wipe hit. What an unfortunately placed crack in the wood.
Rust mega-builder Grym's obsession with tree-houses (as you can see in this community update) has led him to imagining a better world for his builds. One where villages in trees could live away from the ground, but still be part of a community, up there in the canopy. What sort of thing could help? Teleportation? Ziplines? Genetically mutated birds? Oh, he went for bridges. I was way off! Grym built a village in the trees, with each of his bark-hugging homesteads being linked by ground-level walkways. Have a look. But what he really wants is a way to link them without the ground getting in the way.
The reason why we should have rope bridges is not just for tree houses but for above ground level access to various areas of our base/s. You could have a central building tower, and watch towers surrounding your building, each watch tower would have access by rope bridge rather than ground level access or building component walkways. It would keep you off the ground especially if you have a Land Mine Field etc down below surrounding your Base. You would also avoid any land based PvP or PvE attacks, unless of course someone tries shooting up at you but that wouldn't be a problem if you upgrade to Armored Rope Bridge. You could also use Rope Bridges inside your building this would save you a lot on building structures, and possibly introduce a new interior building style. Why build floors when you can build a bridge?
He even worked his idea out in Photoshop. Good stuff. It's kinda specific to his needs, but I always love it when people play game designer with Rust. Even if the ideas are kind of terrifying.
Some of these buildings have gone to the great database in the sky. Rust is a fickle place.

Crossroads Bar

MadMaxGamer's Crossroads Bar, a place where everybody knows your name... because it's right there above your head. You can see the beginnings of altruism fade here as the realities of Rust takes hold.

Airfield Shooting Range

Sarmizzle took advantage of the length of the airfield to set-up a shooting range. I wouldn't fire the first shot if you meet them in the game.

Fortress

IvyMetro's Fortress was planned ahead of time using the Rust Building Planner.
I enjoyed the Grumpy Spanner's previous video greatly, so it's good to see him return to the world of Rust. This one follows on from the general store, a shop that gathered people to it like a beacon of friendliness and hope and not being murdered for your flesh. So with the extra attention the shop brought, a village started to form, and Grumpy Spanner decided to go full BBC documentary maker on it. It's lovely, with the presenter doing a pitch-perfect job narrating the history of the world in the relaxing tones of a UK local TV host. More of this, please. Let's Plays can only go so far, and Rust needs documentarians now Argyle has found religion.
I've no idea what is going on, but instead of interviewing people on the fields of Rust, Argyle Alligator has found religion. It appears to be shrimp-based. It's odd, but he has to replace every other word with some sort of 'shrimp' pun, but when you do anything enough times it starts to become art. So this is art. I think this might just be an advert, because I now need a pile of shrimp.
Vertiigo has just posted his 30th Rust video, and with it comes a realisation of what Rust has done to him. It's sad and dark and not nearly as happy-go-murdery as the previous videos, but it's surprisingly lovely. He now now has a Patreon, if you want to see more of this stuff. I do. He also appeared on PlayRust PublicRadio, being interviewed alongside his nemesis by host Drostan.
"What happens to most of my ammo in Rust." In homage to this.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Now's the time to share your base designs, or get into the growing Raid Cam business. There's a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well. I can't respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
