It's been a while since we led the blog with cosplay. On reddit, ShibeCat shared a look at his classic Coffee Can Helmet and Road Sign Armour combo, and in the grandest traditions of Rust, he did it with a half-naked dude in public. Good work. And as a bonus, you're now prepared for the coming days.
The denizens of the Rusty Cartographer Discord have been hard at work with the new SDK elements. The latest update enables access to a lot of the individual pieces of the monuments, meaning custom-built monuments using all the parts, are now possible. I've spotted dams and mini-harbours being constructed. As soon as they're live, I'll be visiting. WheatleyMF's canyon map is getting some nice touches. Corrosive Backspin's Legacy map remake is benefitting from the bits and parts, too. He's on a mission to craft a replica of Rust's first map. Want to try it out? Open the F1 menu and paste this: connect 70.42.74.138:28019.
Not a lot of art this week, but last week's header-doer MrGoose made some art of the new bow. Nice work!
Poking about the Youtubes, I came across Stevie. I'm not sure I've ever covered his work before, but I found his latest solo adventure rather relaxing. He's friendly, doesn't screech, and takes Rust as it comes. It's so wholesome, in fact, that even the bad words are squeaked out. And here's part two. Nice work, Stevie.
We all know the appeal of being alone in Rust, but it's a hard life. That's why John_Strange likes to put together solo guides on reddit: he's helpful like that. He's survived alone, unhindered definitely hindered on high pop servers for a good while now. It leans heavily on survival. The best bit about this stuff is how the comments add their own take on the situation, so there's a decent whack of info there if you want to Rust without friends.
Brainybren had an idea, and I'm going to share it despite the muffled microphone. The idea was to blow up as many landmines as possible. He claims 2500, and the results are predictably laggy. The car moment is great. The only way to follow that is to do more. A lot more. Next step is to do it all without lag. That's definitely possible.
REDBOBTV crafted Rust's Railway Depot in something called Minecraft. All games are in all other games.
Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Share your map designs, show off a game-mode from your server, let us see your cool base. There's a dedicated forum, or you can fish for upvotes in the subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well.
